View from Thomas A. Jaggar Museum: Volcano National Park by Dennis vanEngelsdorp

This is the second gigapan I took while I was in Hawaii. This panorama was taken in Volcano National Park from a top the Kilauea Caldera looking off the back of the Thomas A. Jaggar Museum. If you look closely you can spot a smoke plume originating from the Halema’uma’u Crater.

I didn’t have much time to spend at Volcano, so I tried to take a quick panorama and didn’t capture as many images as I would have liked. About an hour earlier I took my first Gigapan in Hawaii, it was taken not to far from this one, from an overlook off the Crater Rim Trail.

After I took this panorama I hopped back into the rental car and headed to the Kona side of the island to do some snorkeling. On the way I stopped to pick up my first hitch hiker, which also happened to be a beautiful girl from British Columbia, who had vacationed in Hawaii 5 years earlier and never left…
