When the weather permits, we often go out in the morning to collect our beloved Belgica.
Sometimes, we collect near Penguins and seals, but it is very important not to disturb them.
Captured in this panoramas is Nick collecting Belgica on the Christine Island.
Unlike the usual “bug collecting” using a butterfly net, when we collect Belgica, we have to stay on our knees, flipping rocks around. It is very important to know where to look or you will end up with an empty bag and very sore knees after long hours on bare rocks! (Belgica is often found in moist soil, in very close vicinity of moss/algae growth.)
