This is the third in a series of gigapan's showing the development of a Marcellus Shale natural gas site on Rt. 259 north a few miles of Ligonier, PA. The permit is leased to XTO Energy by Dean Nelson?
Two frac pits with plastic liners have been created to hold the frac water. The water for the frac job is being pulled from the Latrobe Reservoir a few miles down the road. A fire hydrant and large detachable pipe has been put in recently to allow the draw down of drinking water from the reservoir. Still looking into the disposal of the residual waste (frac water).
This was a handheld gigapan so the stitcher is having trouble aligning the sources images.
For a good graphical explanation of a drill site from a lobby group see www.energyindepth.org/rig/index.html
