- Description

Cave Creek Canyon serves as a gateway into the Coronado National Forest and the Chiricahua Mountains. This region (Portal, AZ) is world renowned as a birding hot spot. The Chiricahuas are a "sky island" mountain range and are home to a variety of plants and animals found nowhere else in the U.S..
Arizona Sky Village (gigapan.org/gigapans/34810/) is also located here because of the especially dark skies free from light pollution.
