    Description:

    Parallel ractures through the rock unit - the large crack to the left of the snapshot is the same, but enlarged by weathering.

    These features were formed by tectonic forces affecting the area.

    Description:

    Erosion of the sandstone cliffs by wind and groundwater forms what might be the beginning of alcoves.

    A sequence of cross beds, which indicate the sediments that formed this sandstone were deposited in sand dunes (the direction of the beds indicates wind direction).

    Description:

    The faster-moving water on the outside of the bend removes talus from the cliff base, while the slower water on the inner part of the bend leaves the debris and deposits some of its own.

    Description:

    The sedimentary layers of the Colorado Plateau are exposed by downcutting of the Colorado River.
