This GigaPan illustrates a roadcut in Yellowstone National Park just north of Tower Falls that exposes 1.5 Ma basaltic lava flows that show a spectacular variety of columnar jointing textures. From this vantage point I couldn't get the old Beta GigaPan robot to incline high enough to capture the top of the cut (due to modifications I've made to it to accomodate a Canon S5IS). In the field I got the feeling that this one was going to end up underexposed, so I shot another one from the same spot which will be published as Columnar Basalts 1.1.
