Image by Mike Andree. This is an image of of an apiary in North Dakota. You can see a headless Doctor Jeff Pettis and a colleague from Browning Honey installing a pollen trap on a honey bee colony. Dr. Pettis is the Research Leader at the USDA's Beltsville, MD labratory. I have been lucky enough to be involved with several of Dr. Pettis's research projects including an annual trip to the California almond orchards. The North Dakota project is a joint project being run by both the USDA and the USGS.
