Yankee Siege is a world-record pumpkin throwing (punkin' chunkin') trebuchet, a twelfth century device that hurled 250 pound boulders at castles and walls during a siege. Greenfield, NH is the home of Yankee Siege, a handbuilt trebuchet that is used to throw pumpkins at a 'castle' target. I pass by it on the way to/from work and it is truly a marvel of engineering. One can only imagine how devastating a device like that was in war time and how many operators must have been maimed or killed trying to take over a castle.
