The two-block-long Milwaukee Avenue Historic District in Minneapolis is unique to the area. Built 1884-1890, it contains tiny wood-frame houses on quarter-size lots and was intended for working-class immigrants. The neighborhood avoided demolition in 1970 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.
