Brasilia JK Memorial

Project by Oscar Niemeyer. The tomb of JK (President Juscelino Kubitschek) lies underneath eerily beautiful stained-glass by French artist Marianne Peretti inside the Memorial JK. The museum houses JK's 3,000-book strong personal library as well as a pictorial history of Brasília. Don't miss JK's 1973 Ford Galaxie just outside the back door.

More about Brasilia: The Capital City of Brazil created ex nihilo (out of nothing) in the centre of the country in 1956, was a landmark in the history of town planning. Inaugurated in 1960 (April 21st) it has a population of about 2,557,000 as of the 2008 census estimate, making it the fourth largest city in Brazil.

Brasilia is a masterpiece of modernist architecture. It is the only city in the world built in the 20th century to be awarded (in 1987) the status of Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Brasilia is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2010.

Prédio-mausoléu projetado por Oscar Niemeyer para guardar os restos mortais de Juscelino Kubitschek. Possui auditório e uma biblioteca com 3 mil volumes que pertenceu ao ex-presidente. Em exposição permanente, objetos e fotos do fundador de Brasília.
