- Description
-
This is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse in the USA. Built in 1764, it is 29 feet in diameter at the base, and tapers down to 15 feet in diameter at the top. The 45,000 candle power light is 85 feet above ground. The light can be seen from 19 miles out at sea. The lighthouse keepers house is to the left of the lighthouse. You can climb to the top (95 steps) for a great view of Fort Hancock, New York harbor and New York city
