This is an hourglass that I shot with a bunch of sequins behind it. Use the full screen viewing mode, and zoom way in, and pan around. Look closely at the boundaries, and notice the complicated patterns that arise, due to very small distortions in the glass. Along the vertical axis, the little spheres that you can zoom into are the "sand" grains stopped in their tracks.
This image, like nature... and unlike the digital world in general, can be explored under close scrutiny. (p.s. The demons are being exceedingly annoying tonight, so you might not want to listen to me) , You can keep looking closer and closer, looking at it as a little kid with all the curiosity still there, exploring things that you would need a good magnifying glass to view in real life. And when you do, complicated, imprecise patterns emerge, beautiful patterns that you would never be able to see in normal resolution digital images, and only very rarely in real life. Even with a 20 megapixel camera, the patterns would only be a fuzzy blur. Then again... probably not that many people worried about that, are there...?
