This view of Morgan Territory shows a hollowed broken oak that was about 500 years old. These hills are drying out and have been for a couple of hundred years. New oaks do not start on their own due to grazing, non-native grasses, and climate change. Planting acorns has helped, but the valley oaks are having a very hard time on the hills where they once grew, the blue oaks hardly survive at all, and the live oaks are still taking hold on Northern slopes.
