Taken from the Royal Observatory overlooking the Royal Martime Museum at Greenwich this panorama covers a 70° view across the City of London from Guys Hospital (left) to the O2 Arena - London Dome (right). The furthest visible landmark is Alexandra Palace (9.75 miles). Landmarks such The BT Tower (6.6 miles), St Pauls Cathedral (4.8 miles) are clearly visible as is Canary Wharf and its skyscrapers, the tallest of which is One Canada Square. It was the tallest building in the UK from 1990 to 2010, standing at 235 metres (770 ft) above ground level and containing 50 storeys. It was surpassed by The Shard (on left in panorama), completed in July 2012, which stands at 309.6 metres (1,016 ft). Many other landmarks are visible and I will attempt to locate & name as many as possible in the snapshots.
This was taken on a very breezy autumn afternoon so focus is not quite as sharp as I had hoped for but overall I am pleased with the result. For updated sharper version please visit gigapan.com/gigapans/144488
