Comments on Gigapan: Tybee Lighthouse, Tybee Island Georgia, USA

  2. This was actually the fourth lighthouse on this point since the mid 1700's. The first two were destroyed in storms, the third was burned by Union soldiers during the Civil War, and this is the final one. The walls are 12 feet thick (4 meters) at the base.
