This view shows lake Grevelingen, the old city of Goedereede and nature area Koudenhoek. This area is a favorite place for many birds for a winter stay over.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The 184 images (in 4 rows) for this 360 degree panorama are shot with a GigaPan Beta2 robot and a Canon G9 @ 210mm.
Generally the GigaPan stitcher is doing a very fine job but it always fails to stitch the horizon without errors in scenes like this one. Because the stitcher lacks any option to manualy position an image it is very often not the best tool to use so I hope the people of GigaPan will give the stitcher more options to make manually positioning possible.
So instead of the GigaPan stitcher I had to stitch the images in PTGui 8.1 but with this application 59 images (1/3 of all images !) were not placed in the proper position (due to missing control points in all images of the toprow and a lot of images in the water) so I had to place those images myself in the right position.
Manually placing so many images is a hard and almost undoable task and therefore I wrote a HyperCard script (running on a Mac with Classic OS9) to this job for me.
Basicly the script is searching for a "anchor" image nearby in the same row and is then placing the image based on the position of that anchor image. To make it work at least one image in every row has to be in the proper position. As you can see the script did a great job. :-)I hope you enjoy the view.
