Loburu Hot Springs, Lake Bogoria, Kenya. Lake Bogoria is located in the east African rift valley at 0.2443 N and 36.09015 E. The lake is located in a down-faulted trough above a mantle plume from which magma rises upwards towards the surface. The high temperatures at shallow depth heat ground water which circulates along the many faults. This image shows springs and geysers in the Loburu Hot Springs, located along the western side of the lake. You will see many flamingos as well. The panorama was taken in the late summer of 2008.
