Another HiRISE observation centered on a patch of the western bank of the Mawrth Vallis channel on Mars. The area is located just between the main channel and the almost 100 km wide Oyama (former Viking mission participant and PI of the Viking GEx life detection experiment) crater to the west.
Illumination is roughly from the right - south is up
Original jp2 (jpeg2000) source (synthetic RGB not map projected) has been enlarged, sharpened and white balanced (including some reduction of the HiRISE synthetic blue channel).

It really is a pity this area has not been chosen for MSL!
