Lake Isabella is the body of water formed by the damming of the Kern River. The main trunk of the Kern River valley roughly follows the proto-Kern Canyon fault zone northward (left side of image) past Kernville. The South Fork Kern River here arrives from the east towards Walker Pass. The Kern Plateau is the large granitic plateau between these forks and is visible in the center of the image. The Needles can be seen about 33.6 miles distant, if you know where to look. What else can you find?
