The Change Agents in Education Initiative:
The Pittsburgh Foundation and the Ballay Family Fund at The Pittsburgh Foundation developed this experience to introduce regional K-12 teachers to the theory and practice of Design Thinking and Human Centered Design as a way to effect change in public education. This series of workshops is an introduction to a way of learning, and at the same time a way of teaching, that is grounded in empathy, understanding what students and their teachers need, and a spirit of curiosity and inquiry.
May 30-June 1, 2013: 2-1/2 day Introduction to Design Thinking & Human Centered Design
Learn the basic tenants of Human Centered Design, emphasizing specific methods and how they can be applied to innovation challenges in the K-12 educational setting.
This is the first class of Change Agents from four different school districts that are an innovative, inspiring and imaginative group of leaders training to ignite real change in education. The work in and around them is a small sampling of thoughts, ideas and discussions learned through The Luma Institute's Human Centered Design techniques taught by Bill Lucas and Joe Ballay.
