This 15 gigapixel image was taken for photokina 2012, the world's largest trade fair for the photographic and imaging industries, held in Cologne, Germany. It depicts the most scenic part of Cologne's skyline as seen from the former Trade Fair Tower. It was presented at photokina 2012 on the world's largest flat screen (152" - 4,096 x 2,160 pixels). Thanks to the innovative radarTOUCH technolgy, visitors could zoom into the gigantic image and select picture details by moving their arms.
The images itself was taken with a Canon 5DII equipped with a Canon EF 4 500 mm L lens + 1.4x extender (= 700 mm). 2,280 single frames were stitched using Kolor Autopano Pro software. All moving objects like ships were photographed and stitched separately and later inserted into the image.

@Frank Neuperger: All moving objects have been photographed separately afterwards (same camera + lens, but handheld and as quickly as possible). Most consist of several (around 10) frames that were also stitched separately and then inserted into the big images.

With 2200 frames, how did you avoid motion artifacts with the moving boats?
