Whiterock Bluff, Cuyama Valley, California by Brian Lawler

This GigaPan was taken on Saturday, March 2, 2013, on the ridge above the Cuyama River at the border of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. The mountaints in the distance are part of the Caliente Range, and this area is called Whiterock Bluff. The Cuyama River flows from right to left on its way to the Santa Maria River in the west (left), and ultimately the Pacific Ocean.

The Cuyama River is usually dry, but can become a ferocious river in a storm. There are numerous places where the river has washed out over the years.
