Description

Also known as the Darton Fault (for Nelson Horatio Darton of the USGS, who pushed for its preservation "from the effects of weathering and the small boy") or the White House Fault (because it runs southeast to underneath the northeast corner of the White House grounds), this reverse fault offsets the nonconformity between schist of Taconian metamorphic age (~460 Ma) and gravel deposits that may be Cretaceous or younger.
