The Smithsonian Castle is the original building of the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall. It is constructed of Triassic-aged Seneca red sandstone from the Culpeper Basin of Maryland/Virginia. This view is from the south, from the Haupt Gardens north of Independence Avenue.
