Just up stream where Ansel Adams shot his famous "Gates of Yosemite" shot I had a blue sky day wondering how to capture something different in Yosemite. I have studied the valley for years and knew the low fog can make magic on the valley floor. With the low winter sun, the trees have great rays, but I needed more than trees in a forest. While shooting at Ansel's spot I could visualize what a shot from the fog over the river with rays of light off the bank would look like. Hundreds of photographers had taken pictures from that spot that very day, but this was the only original one.
