Description

The Lekdijk is a dyke near the river Lek, in the centre of Holland. This panorama is taken during snowfall in january on a location near Culemborg and Everdingen (Goilberdingerdijk), near 'de Veldkeuken' (restaurant) and 'Werk aan het Spoel'. In the neighbourhood you can also find a fortress, Fort Everdingen. There are many fortresses in the surroundings of the Lek, as it's part of 'de Waterlinie', a system built in 1672 to set a large part of Holland underwater (to slow the enemy - then the French - troop movements).
