    The explore score is based on a number of things: hits, the number of bytes sucked of the server by people zooming in, the number of snapshots and the number of comments. Nobody outside the GP team knows the exact formula, but it is known that it is heavily weighted towards comments and snapshots. So your last question and my reply are probably worth 5 points :-) The non-hits components of the explore score decay over time quite quickly however, so you will notice, eg, the gigapans that stay on the front page all have high hit counts. This is partly because some of them are very old (relatively speaking :-)

    Nice shot. I'd encourage you to geocode your shots - then we can see where in the world they were taken and they look great in Google Earth (especially ones with a wide field of view). I notice there is a slight banding in your panos - the blurry vertical dark lines. This is caused by 'vignetting'. There are two commonly-mentioned solutions to this. First overlap by as much as you can get away with up to 49.999%. Second use the smallest aperture that you can. HTH

    outstanding first Gigapan! congratulations. This was 10x3 according to the stitcher notes- I would encourage you to zoom way in and try having at least 5 or 6 rows and at least 12 or 15 columns in later experiments and see if you can get to someting like 200 or more megapixels-- then you will have enough pixels to print something huge out someday that is gorgeous!
