Markets on the south side of the old London Bridge have sold goods to folks since the 11th century. In the 13th century a Borough Market appeared, but it was closed in 1755 by Parliament. A group of vendors bought the present plot of land shortly thereafter and the market has been there ever since. It is the oldest food market in London, and has been the setting of several movies, most recently in one of the Harry Potter series. Over 100 stalls sell foodstuffs and wine and the ambiance is one of history, heritage and pride. This hand-held panorama only captures one of the sheds which protect the market vendors.
