Space Shuttle Atlantis made one final move on November 2nd, 2012, to her new home at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The journey, stacked on top of the 76-wheeled Orbiter Transport System, competed the decommissioning process of the three orbiters and marks the first time that Kennedy Space Center (KSC) has been without a shuttle since 1979. Midway through the trip, Atlantis was parked in Exploration Park just outside the gates of KSC for three hours of public viewing.
