Comments on Gigapan: Little Gneiss, Big Garnet

  2. Rather large garnet in a rather small gneiss boulder (Tolland County, CT). The garnets seem to be associated with a vein of white minerals (feldspars, mostly) within the gneiss -- this boulder contains a rather large example (4-5 cm), as most of the local garnets are millimeter scale (0.1 - 1 cm in size).
