This is the view from Mather Point at Grand Canyon Village in the Grand Canyon National Park. The location and other excellent view points (another is visible in the photo) are easily accessible from the south rim trails.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Canyon
The Grand Canyon was designated as the 17th U.S. National Park in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson. According to Wikipedia, it is over 277 miles (446km) long, up to 18 miles (29km) wide, and over a mile deep (1800m). The Colorado River run through the canyon and has exposed billions of years of geological history. Most of the tourists during my trip were German. Overcast skies made for difficult conditions, but any conditions at the Grand Canyon are awe-inspiring.
Would have been nice to take a full 400mm gigapan, but I didn't have all day!
