About the subject: The Muskoka River flows through the town of Bracebridge and tumbles down a partially man-made waterfall approximately 7 meters high. The hydro-dam extends part way across the river and it seems that damming the main flow may have raised the height of the original falls a bit. This particular image was made during a very dry summer, so the quantity of water being released is minimal. I would imagine that in rainy periods the flow must be spectacular. The hydroelectric plant was originally constructed in 1902 and continues to supply the town with power. The water wheel on the right of the falls is a replica placed as a reminder of the Alexander Bailey Grist mill built on 1894.
About the image: This Gigapan consists of about 189 individual images. They were taken with a Canon 50D fitted with a Canon EF 400 F5.6 prime lens and processed via ACR and PTGui Pro
