Welcome to Churchill Sign – south side of launch rd.
58.75809 -94.14488 (location of gigapan)
Today was a beautiful day. It was sunny with only light cloud cover and 13oC, not too cold just perfect. There were tree islands all around. Off in the distance huskies could be heard howling. The gigapan was placed in the center of a 5x5m quadrate and will be used for future identification of plant species that were missed during an active search. The quadrate was placed next to a large landmark boulder. Like Cape Merry (the other tundra site being recorded) the ground was covered by dryas leaves. Other plant species in abundance was reindeer lichen, velvet bells, variegated horsetail, and numerous berries. A malaise trap can be seen.
