Today was our second last day to actively collect data for our research projects. This group had originally been chased off this site a few days earlier due to a polar bear sighting. After the site was deemed safe we headed back to finish collecting data. The people studying flowers (“Flower people”) finished their remaining quadrats earlier than the people studying aquatic invertebrates (“Pond people”), so the flower people ended up helping the pond people collect samples from their last pond. Some of us also helped in bear guarding, as bears are commonly seen on the coastal areas and the cool weather after a string of hot days had them out and wandering again.
