Marietta is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River just north of Columbia. The population was 2,689 at the 2000 census and less than 500 in 1863. Imagine the town’s fear as the Confederate Army approached the bridge across the Susquehanna which connected Columbia to Wrightsville and York County. The sacrifice of the bridge was incredible for the small village of the day.
