Description

A view of the El Chato Tortoise Reserve and surrounding area in the Santa Cruz highlands on June 24, 2012. Galapagos tortoises are often spotted here (in fact, two were spotted near the road after imaging, but may be behind trees or other vegetation in this image). Zoom lens set at 100mm (35mm equivalent is 160mm). Some parallax error is visible with a couple of objects that were very close to the camera.

This is part of an effort to evaluate the use of high-resolution panoramic photography (HRPP) for environmental monitoring in Galapagos. This work was partially funded by Galapagos Conservancy (galapagos.org Will open in a new tab or window) and is part of the GigaPan Education and Research Program.
