Folded and faulted sequence of Carboniferous (Westphalian) sandstons and shales from the Bude Formation, exposed north of the seapool at Summerleaze Beach in Bude, Cornwall, England. The Bude Formation was deposited in a basin at the northern edge of the closing Rheic Ocean and was then deformed in the Variscan orogeny. The beds in the photograph have a strike which averages around 080-260 and the photograph is taken facing East.
