Picture taken from the top of Luossavaara in the early morning on the 8th of June 2012. Some snow can still be seen on the slopes and it was even snowing the evening before, and later in the morning too. Temperature was 3C and it was windy.
The mining operations of LKAB will affect the city centre which means that the city has to move 3 km towards Luossavara. This means that several buildings will have to be demolished or moved. Read more about the redevlopment of Kiruna here (in Swedish): sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiruna_stadsomvandling
