Blue oaks cover these hills. Some are hundreds of years old, buty hardly show it due to water deprivation. This canyon has a better supply of water than Cedar Mountain, which we see covered with grasses and fewer trees due to Western exposure. Mornings can sometimes be foggy, so the afternoon sides of the hills can get cooked. There are many microclimates present in this photo.
