MOnth of March-April in Spring 2012 is being celebrated as Water Month at Furman University initiated by the Global Issues Forum. In an effort to increase the awareness of preciousness and scareceness of water and its uneven spatial distribution, students organized a water walk event where participants walked a mile carrying 2 gallons of water, much like it is done in many of the developing countries on a daily basis. This program not only raised awareness but also raised money to build a water system for a small village in Guatemala and study the impact such facility will cause over time through student driven research observations.
