This view from the summit of Pikes Peak faces north and was taken from the edge of the parking lot. You can see the end of the cog railway and the cafe/giftshop on the right side of the photograph.
An impressive drop off gives an especially spectacular view. It is easy to see why the drop off is called the Bottomless Pit.
As a maker of large panoramas, I would have been happy if we had a clear day on the mountain, but the late September snow falling from distant clouds tells an alternaive story that was also worth a gigapan.
The 18 images for this panorama were photographed with a Nikon D80 and stitched with Autopano Pro.
