SR-826/SR-836 Interchange Project > Smooth Operator on Bridge B-11 by Robert Holmes

Here the Smooth Operator has installed the final piece of the Bridge known as B-11 of the SR-826/SR-836 Interchange project in Miami, Florida. This unique piece of equipment, affectionately known as SMOOTH OPERATOR (Technically a Launching Gantry) is providing for the assembly of this massive Interchange with 4 flyover bridges covering all four directions with minimal interference to the flow of normal/heavy traffic. The complete bridge assembly is done overhead, WITHOUT the use of cranes to lift the pieces. This is truly a magnificent piece of equipment. It is said that the use of this equipment will cut the overall project construction time by three (3) years.
