Pirate's Cove is very near Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County, California. Known for its idyllic beach and warm water, the cove is also the County's only clothing optional beach.
The cliff above Pirate's Cove is now home to multi-million-dollar mansions, a string of which can be seen in this photo.
Various stories exist on the naming of the Cove, some of which involve the illegal importation of Chinese laborers in the 19th century. These laborers would have come to help build the Southern Pacific Railroad through the county.
