This an oddity. We were exploring and essentially radomly chose this as a destination on the grounds that it was nearby and had a car park marked on the map. There wasn't a great deal to see and wondered why people came here but we set off down a path through a wood hoping to find out. It later turned out that this was the only way to access a very popular beach that we never saw, but we did come across this view.
We were both puzzled by this substantial thing that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to build. There is no road access to this little cove, so someone must have really wanted to build it whatever it is. You can get some idea of the size from the fossil hunter sat on top of it.
According to a lady we met there, it is a mini-harbour/hiding place for mine sweepers built for WWII.
Another costal oddity can be seen nearby tinyurl.com/nm62kc
. You can see a nearby castle here tinyurl.com/koasx3
or see all my Pembroke gigapans here tinyurl.com/lp9gqk

Excellent news Sophie. I was disappointed that I didn't have the time to get a better shot of the bay and other bays nearby, but you have done just that. You seem to have been on holiday in the area like we were so there are quite a few Pembrokeshire gigapans now. Annoyingly I didn't tag my gigapans with "pembrokeshire" and I am too lazy to work through all 20 of them rectifying that mistake, but people might like to use the following tool to find nearby gigapans: home.kilgore.org.uk/cgi-bin/gp/sur fer3.py?mode=proximate
. Enter the id of a
gigapan of interest eg 29390 and press Go! Only
geocoded gigapans appear.
