View of the main areas of former mining activity in Coppermines Valley. To the right of the image the large spoil heaps from the Bonser ore dressing floors sit close to Church Beck. Spoil heaps from exploitation of the Bonser Vein are on the fells behind. In the centre the spoil heaps from the Paddy End Vein extend up the valley cut by Lever's Water Beck to Simon's Nick and the Back Strings where the stopes from which ore was mine remain as deep gashes in the hillside. The doors which lead into the hillside in the centre of the image lead to the underground reservoir below Lever's Water. On the left of the image slate quarries on the Old Man, become rather fuzzy in the image as (yet again) the great lumpen hooves of the bloke taking this gigapan have inuiced a bit of camera shake.
