No need for apologies Kilgore -- on the contrary, thanks for calling our attention to the regression. Good question on the API. I don't know the answer and will have to defer to the web team on that.

Man, do I feel like a jerk now ... should have looked before I leaped. Apologies! Actually, as a matter of interest, how did the software know to show the Moon and not the Earth? The API doesn't seem to return anything special when I ask for 25581.json. Eg the location datum is WGS not "MGS" (if such a thing existed).

Actually, it's not geocoded but lunacoded. Latitutude and Longitude are for the Moon. Past versions of the GigaPan web site correctly showed the lunar map.

You seem to have geocoded this image as being in Angola. I don't think that's, strictly speaking, correct is it? :-) I assume you geocoded the image to get the free VR view. Did you know you don't have to do that? Just use www.3d-360.com/foo
where foo is your
gigapan's id and you don't need to pollute
the gigapan database.
