Description

The apparent levee along the shoreline of Molly Pond is vegetative, not geomorphic. Leatherleaf grows tall at the edge of the floating peat mat which has been encroaching into this kettle pond for thousands of years. The floating mat is about two meters thick in the foreground and supported my weight well, but I had to stand very still as the Epic 100 took the 72 photos so the tripod did not "quake." I tried to get closer to the pond to include Brassenia, Calla, Utricularia, Menyanthes, and Nuphar, but my boots weren't tall enough.

    The old lens used has no electronic connection to the camera, causing the EXIF data to be incomplete. The jpg files produced by Adobe Lightroom present the missing data fields in a manner which GigaPan Stitch does not interpret well, and the Stitch Notes does not include these values: Camera make: Nikon... Camera model: D40... Aperture: f/22... Exposure time: 1/60 second... ISO: 200... Focal length (35mm equiv.): 166mm... White balance: daylight... Exposure mode: manual
