Last year at this time I took a pano of this same waterfall as water was being released due to winter rains: gigapan.org/gigapans/18848/. This year, once again, heavy rain has forced another release, although this year they lowered the inflated dam quite a bit to nearly empty the lake a couple of weeks ago. At this time, it has filled up again, but there is still quite a bit of runoff from the mountains and water is still being released, so the hundreds of riparian birds in the photo are quite happy.
Directly across the river is the Tempe Center for the Arts. To the left are the high-rise office and condos of Hayden Ferry Landing, "A-mountain," Hayden Flour Mill, USAirways HQ and the ASU campus.
Due to the varying cloud cover and having to shoot in the direction of the sun, some areas are too dark while others are just right.
