A warm (24-28C), clear and not very windy day in Santa Rosa. I started by driving out to the highway to see if the mountain were in cloud - clearly not! I returned to the mature dry forest in Santa Rosa and had my various traps out by 8am. It is always fun to search in Santa Rosa, as there are many many ant species here! Each bait or trap has it's complement of different genera. Solenopsis, Pheidole and Pachycondyla were common across all traps and types. There was a neat opportunity to video a conflict between Crematogaster and Solenopsis about some cookie bait. I also saw an interesting dacetine (Pyramica?) in a leaf litter sift. Traps upp by 1:36.
