We hit Devils Tower right after the Badlands, opting to skip stopping at Mt. Rushmore. Mt. Rushmore is an incredible feat of engineering and a great tribute to four undeniable american leaders but not a place I would regret not seeing...
Although a bit anti-climatic after being in the Badlands, Devil's Tower was worth seeing and only about half an hour off of I-90 (if you don't get stuck behind an RV). Take the Sundance exit off of I-90 to US 14 and follow the signs to Devil's Tower National Monument.
I didn't know much about the monument until I went to see it. Once I saw it I wanted to know more...learning how it was formed and reading about the Native American folklore definitely added to the experience.
